Win rate measures what percentage of your qualified opportunities turn into customers. It’s one of the most important sales metrics for evaluating team performance and pipeline health.
Win Rate = (# of Won Deals ÷ Total Closed Deals) × 100
Example: 25 wins out of 100 closed opportunities = 25% win rate
Note: Only include closed deals (won or lost), not open opportunities still in pipeline.
Typical win rates vary widely:
Analyze win rate by:
Better qualify early (don’t pursue bad-fit deals), improve discovery process (understand needs deeply), strengthen value proposition, address objections proactively, compete more effectively, enhance sales skills through training, focus on ideal customer profile, and shorten sales cycles (prevent deals from going stale).
Win Rate: Won deals ÷ All closed deals
Close Rate: Won deals ÷ All opportunities (including still-open)
Win rate is more meaningful as it excludes current pipeline.
Win rate informs sales forecasting accuracy, helps set realistic quotas, identifies coaching opportunities, validates changes to sales process, and measures competitive positioning.
